Hey y’all! I want to explain and hopefully demystify Brazilian Blowout. While I commonly get asked, by name, for this treatment, I’ve found that guests don’t really seem to know what they’re asking for.
That’s totally OK! As a stylist, I don’t ever expect my guests to speak my ‘language’ about hair and always understand exactly what the treatment/color service/whatever is until we’ve consulted and I’ve explained it.
In the day of the trending Tik Toks, you might be surprised at the variety of requests guests come in with… some interesting, some because an influencer talked about it, some that have a new name for an older, common concept, etc…
Here’s what stylist’s learn about Brazilian Blowout when we get certified and exactly what Brazilian Blowout says about their treatment: ‘Brazilian Blowout transforms frizzy, damaged and unmanageable hair into smooth, healthy, easy-to-style strands for any hair texture that lasts up to 12 weeks.’ It is ‘a cumulative treatment,’ which means the more you receive it, the healthier the hair will be and the longer the result will last. As with any salon service, your at-home care is 50-80% of keeping your hair that amazing salon look and feel, so I always recommend the after care.
So what does Brazilian Blowout do for your hair? Brazilian Blowout minimizes frizz, and leaves the hair shiny and manageable. There will still be the option to wear hair curly or wavy, depending on the hair type, and the freedom to blow dry hair smooth and straight in less time.
So, while Brazilian Blowout will make your hair appear naturally straight and healthy when heat is added during styling because it is a smoothing treatment, or take very curly hair and minimize frizz while enhancing the appearance of the natural wave or curl, or transform straight, frizzy hair by eliminating or minimizing the frizz and promoting radiant shine, it will not straighten hair by itself. A more permanent straightening solution must break down the hair bonds and restructure them; something Brazilian Blowout does not do.
The best steps for a Brazilian Blowout are to receive one with your color treatment, if you color/bleach your hair, and purchase and use the at-home maintenance care, and re-book your Brazilian every 12 weeks.
I hope this clarifies this popular salon treatment. Let me know what other services you’d like more information on!
