Specialty Transformative Appointments

I shared this on Instagram in several posts, specifically about blonding, and decided to share in a blog post with all the information in one place.

Let’s talk specialty transformative services {aka highlights/lowlights/balayage/foilyage, or double process service}. I do want to clarify something first… On my menu in the booking site, you’ll see the service Specialty Transformative Color. All specialty color like blonding, lowlighting, highlighting brunettes, creating beautiful coppers, etc… falls under this category. Not everyone wants to be blonde, but all double process color: bleaching and toning are customized in my salon and is described as a custom lightening/darkening service to achieve overall brightness/transformation. The technique {highlights/lowlights/balayage} will be determined to achieve your desired look. This service includes the full cost of color, treatments, haircut, and signature style.

In many cases, a transformative service is not done overnight. I’m all about hair and scalp health and I will never push your hair to a point it can’t handle. You may luck out and take one session to achieve your goals, but if you’re going from say a level 2, which is pretty dark hair, to a level 9 blonde or icy or platinum, that’s going to take sessionsssss… like at least two, sometimes more. No breakage happening here, babes.

All appointments, unless you’re pre-booking your next {which you should all be doing 😉} are booked online. I don’t allow you to book highlights or balayages per say because often you are unsure what the look is you actually need to book… and that’s completely OK!

Instead, appointments are booked as a specialty transformative color service and are based on how much blonding or specialty transformation you would like… and inspiration pictures are encouraged. You can also book a color consultation if you want to chat first.

Now that we’ve cleared up the service information and what you want to book if you’re not solely looking for the same color applied all over, roots to end, I want to talk specifically about which specialty transformative service… the FULL TRANSFORMATIVE COLOR vs PARTIAL TRANSFORMATIVE COLOR vs MINI TRANSFORMATIVE COLOR👇🏼

Gone are the days of ‘partials’ or ‘highlights,’ say hello to specialty coloring and blonding.

Let me break down the difference so you know exactly which service to book {while all NEW GUESTS must book online, as always, if you’re unsure, reach out + we will help you}.

👉🏼 FULL TRANSFORMATIVE COLOR – this is going to be dramatic OR it just might be the whole works. A full service includes root smudging/melting/tapping/grey coverage/grey blending, A LOT of foils to highlight/foilayage {depending on the look} orange full head of balayage, lowlights if you’re going for dimensional color, and/or balayage tipouts for maximum brightness on those ends and always a customized treatment, a cut if needed and of course styling

👉🏼 PARTIAL TRANSFORMATIVE COLOR – this service will focus on the hairlines… I ALWAYS include the ‘ponytail piece’ or underneath hairline as this gives the effect of a full placement while leaving depth in the interior, it also eliminates the dreaded dark underneath ponytail 😬, this may include a root service and always a customized treatment, a cut if needed and of course styling

👉🏼 MINI TRANSFORMATIVE COLOR – this is what I consider a ‘face frame’ and again, i ALWAYS include the ponytail because I think of the money piece as a full halo effect which needs to connect to look seamlessly, and as with all transformative color services, a customized treatment, a cut if needed and of course styling

⚠️ Taking the extra few minutes to foil the nape hairline is what makes my services extra special and differs from traditional placements.

I also wanted to chat about lighting… and the difference in how it affects the tones you see in your hair. Whether we’re blonding, bronding {aka lightening up a brunette}, or creating dimensional red heads.

These pictures were taken at the SAME time but in different lighting and angles… the difference in tones is amazing!

The best reflection of your true to tone is in natural light.
